Although many places around the world are currently closed, in an attempt to curb the spread of the emerging corona virus "Covid-19", a large number of us still use our cars daily. So we found it helpful to provide a quick guide on how to safely sanitize your car and reduce your exposure to the virus.
1- Knowing the appropriate cleaning materials:
As recommended by Toyta, we will use Ultra-Mist technology to sanitize all the vehicles we work on. This has become an essential part of Toyta after sales services. But in the event that you cannot obtain such technology, you can use many effective cleaning materials in the fight against the emerging corona virus “Covid-19”. While soap and water are effective when used in washing your hands, they are practically ineffective when it comes to sanitizing your car. So you should consider one of the following alternatives:
Isopropyl alcohol cleaners, also known as rubbing alcohol, which is the cleaning agent you find in most homes and that most people use to sanitize, is your first choice of cleaner. It is recommended to use isopropyl detergent with a purity between 70-90%.
Sodium hypochlorite cleaners, sodium hypochlorite is widely known as household bleach, but despite the effectiveness of sanitizers containing this substance, it can be harsh on your car interior (be careful while using it on leather seats), especially if it is used repeatedly in the period relatively short. So we recommend using this type of sterilizer as a last resort.
Whatever type of cleaner you use, be sure to read its label, and wear appropriate protective equipment. If you are not sure whether a cleaner is suitable or not, read the label first. If you are still unsure whether it is suitable for your purpose, test it first on a small spot of the material you are going to clean.
2- Knowing the places to clean:
The corona virus “Covid-19” can stay on surfaces for a long period of time, and it can be transmitted easily by touching an infected surface and then touching the eyes, nose or mouth. Therefore, it is necessary to focus primarily on those areas that drivers and passengers constantly touch, and they include:
Keys, key fob, and start button (or start button)
Interior and exterior door handles and trunk handle
rear view mirror
Ventilation holes
handbrake
gearbox
control panels
Safety belts and buckles
Some places in the car may be difficult to reach. If you are particularly concerned about the ventilation and heating system, you can book the Kleenair service, which is available as part of the Toyota Aftersales Service. This super steaming method ensures that your car is deeply cleaned as well as sanitized, giving you peace of mind and peace of mind.
3- Clean properly:
The method of cleaning is just as important as the cleaning material. To make sure you are doing it the right way, you need to follow our detailed guide below:
Wash your hands with soap for at least 20 seconds.
Remove any traces of dust, dirt, or crumbs from the vehicle, using a rag, hoover, or trowel and brush.
Work carefully on all contact points in the car, and be sure to take the time to clean thoroughly. Sanitizers take a little time to be effective, so read the label to understand the necessary information. Then leave the cleaner on the surface to be disinfected for the necessary period of time to do its job effectively.
In the event that you are not able to clean well, you can leave this up to the Toyota technicians, and book one of the after-sales services available at our centers, such as the engine interior cleaning service or the paint and interior protection service. All cars in our showrooms, as well as all vehicles we work on in service centers, are disinfected using the latest air purification and ULTRAMIST technologies. For your safety and comfort, your car will be delivered to you in front of your home.
